The curtains have closed, the sketchbooks have been laid to rest, and the easels, err, I mean hangers have been brought out to put student artwork on display. After months of anticipation, the designs submitted by students throughout the Kings County community for the 2024 Student T-Shirt Design Contest hosted by Plain Insane Graphix and Lemoore College S.P.L.A.A.T. will be unveiled this Tuesday, April 30 at 5:00PM, in the Lemoore College Student Union.
In March we asked students from schools in our surrounding areas, 6th grade to 12th grade students, as well as college students to submit original designs celebrating art, individuality, community, and culture. The entry deadline was April 17, 2024.
The 20 artists from the competition will have their art printed onto t-shirts and displayed at the art show. This year’s competition theme was Reflections of Identity: Us, Them, Me, brings forward the importance of individual and community identity, while also showcasing how art can be made wearable.
The success of the 2024 student design competition would not have been possible without the help the Lemoore College S.P.L.A.A.T. program. S.P.L.A.A.T. stands for Students Promoting and Learning Art Appreciation Techniques, and promotes art appreciation and student creativity through art on the Lemoore College campus.
In an effort to support local art programs in our community, all of the entrant’s design can be seen and printed t-shirts purchased at www.splaat.spiritco.net. For each t-shirt sold, Plain Insane Graphix, in Lemoore, will donate $5 to the S.P.L.A.A.T. art program.
